Cosmetology Curriculum

  1. Cosmetologist: The curriculum for students enrolled in a course of 1500 hours of training extended over a period of not less than 9 months.
    1. Theory Requirements: 230 hours in the following subjects:
      1. Sanitation and Disinfection
      2. Personal Hygiene
      3. Professional Ethics and Salesmanship
      4. Anatomy
      5. Trichology
      6. Onychology
      7. Chemistry
      8. Safety Precautions
      9. Skill Demonstration
      10. State Cosmetology Laws, Rules and Regulations
      11. Any other related theory subjects
      1. Theory Class is to be conducted in a seperate classroom by a licensed instructor on the basis of 4 hours minimum per week throughout the entire course of instruction.
      2. Students are not permitted to leave a theory class to work on patrons
    2. Skill Requirements: 1200 hours in the following subjects:
      1. Shampoos and Rinses
      2. Scalp and Hair Treatments
      3. Hair Shaping; Scissors and Razor
      4. Hair Syling, including Pin Curls and Finger Waves
      5. Care and Styling of Wigs
      6. Manicure and Pedicure
      7. Permanent Waving
      8. Hair Coloring and Lightening
      9. Chemical Hair Relaxing
      10. Facials and Make-up
      11. Thermal Pressing
      12. Croquignole Curling
      13. Safety Precautions
      14. Salon Management
      15. Any other related skill subjects
  2. Skill training and clinic work will be assigned and supervised by a licensed instructor.
    1. Unassigned: 70 hours, theory or skill, used at instructor's discretion as needs of students dictate.

All of the above topics shall be covered in a time period of not less than eighty five (85) hours. The Nail Technology Student shall participate in two hundred sixty five skill practice. Grand total of three hundred fifty (350) hours.
